The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting daily accounting operations and maintaining accurate financial records. This role assists with month-end close, account reconciliations, financial reporting support, and compliance-related tasks to ensure the integrity of the company's financial data.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and post journal entries as assigned
  • Perform account reconciliations, including bank, credit card, and general ledger accounts
  • Review and maintain general ledger accuracy and support documentation
  • Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable reporting, including aging schedules
  • Maintain fixed asset, prepaid expense, and other supporting schedules
  • Assist with sales and use tax tracking and reporting
  • Support W-9 collection and 1099 preparation
  • Assist with credit card coding, receipt matching, and expense verification
  • Support audit requests by preparing schedules and providing documentation
  • Maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting support as needed
  • Assist with accounting for multiple entities as required
  • Complete ad hoc reporting and administrative accounting projects as assigned
  • Support implementation and adherence to internal accounting controls and procedures

Experience/Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field preferred; candidates with an Associate's degree who are actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree may be considered.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • 2-5 years of accounting experience preferred not required
  • Construction industry experience preferred but not required
  • Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
